Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve (May 2019)

Mother’s Day Weekend 2019 – Day Two

Friday – and the weather didn’t exactly cooperate.

Actually, that’s not quite true, because the morning started beautifully, with some sunshine and low cloud settling over the southern end of the Australian Capital Territory, but that unfortunately changed mid-morning when Mother Nature gave us – right on time, according to the forecast – rain and chilly temperatures, which put an end to our thoughts of doing the picturesque Square Rock walk on the Corin Road in the Namadgi National Park. We shelved those plans until Sunday.

Instead, we drove to the nearby Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve (which sits adjacent to the Namadgi) and did a number of small walks from the car, including a loop through Tibinbilla’s impressive ‘The Sanctuary’, where we saw kangaroos, lots of bird life and even a platypus. By the end, we were pretty wet and happy to head back to the warmth of our apartment.
