We’d been trying to get this walk in for a while, only to be foiled by the weather. No such problems, however, on the last weekend in May – a perfect late-spring/early-winter day in the greatest city in the world!

The Spit Bridge to Manly (or Manly to The Spit Bridge, depending on which way you choose to make the trek) is one of the most iconic walks in Sydney, with plenty of jaw-dropping views of the city, Manly, our spectacular harbour and the rugged Sydney Heads. It’s one of those walks you take international visitors on, because each view is better than the one before, and when the weather is perfect, I don’t think there’s a better showcase of our great city.

Easily accessible – we trained it to the City, caught a bus from Wynyard to the Spit Bridge, did the walk to Manly and returned to Circular Quay on the famous Manly ferry – the walk is incredibly popular, despite being fairly long (10km or so) and featuring a few steep hills. If you have only a short time in Sydney and want to see the best of the city and the harbour, you can’t go past the Spit-Manly walk.
