Twilight SCG Footy (July 2016)

It was the three-game stretch that would go a long way to determining where the Swans would finish at the end of the 2016 regular season: a Saturday afternoon twilight game against the Western Bulldogs at the SCG, a road trip to Geelong’s Skilled Stadium to face Dangerfield, Selwood and the Cats the following Friday, and rounding out with a game against Buddy’s old mob, the high-flying Hawks in a massive Thursday night game back at the SCG.

History tells us that the Swans had one win from three, dominating Geelong down there, and lost to both the Bulldogs and Hawthorn by less than a kick. The Swans were in both games and were it not for a) general lack of execution; and b) some questionable umpiring decisions made at crucial times…which only made the two losses harder to take.

At least, during the Bulldogs game, a bumper crowd at the SCG and the stunning winter weather in Sydney made for some spectacular shots.

My SCG panorama taken from the Victor Trumper Stand concourse. I Tweeted this photo and the AFL’s official account was kind enough to retweet it!

One of the most picturesque views in all of Australian sport.

Nothing better than being down on or near the fence for a Swans game! Such great energy and atmosphere at our home games.

If only the game had ended in such spectacular fashion.
