Nothing better than a Friday off work to go hiking. A flex day well used. Stayed in Mittagong Thursday night (had a great drink and meal at the Mittagong Hotel right on Main Street) and the next morning headed off down the narrow and winding Wombeyan Caves Road. Had a great morning tea stop at the spectacular Wollondilly Lookout, which itself is worth the drive.
At Goodman’s Ford, we parked the cars and set off on the walk, which follows the Wollondilly River through the Wollondilly Nature Reserve for a few kilometers, looping around Hartley House in the middle of the wide valley (a good lunch spot) before returning. An easy, flat-to-undulating walk that features spectacular views. A little out of the way to get to, but well worth the effort.
